A very sad tueday

Yesterday? was very awful day, and horrible too! Manila was in a very disastrous storm. Early morning  I woke to go to the bathroom and after a few minutes, electricity was gone and I could hear the moaning of the wind outside. I was scared and was wondering. It went like that all day long, sometimes, the wind would stop then then rain would pour down. We have no way of how to cook our food, thankfully the water line isn't yet affected. After several hours of waiting, the electricity came, we happily jumped out bed and opened the tv for the news update. It was heart breaking knowing a lot of people was affected, there were no way they could go back to their home, it was flushed out by the storm. And there were also people who got killed. This is the how the storm "Pedring" looks like

Let's pray for those who are deeply affected. And help if we have the means.

How To Lose Weight

"How to lose Weight" is an old self-help book title that you may have come across many times in almost all regular bookstore, but seriously, those old traditional of "how to..." really works, if you try. Here's the story how i did it, and continually doing the trick.

Giving birth is definitely a wonderful experience, it actually gives more reason to lose pounds, but after that,... few more months or a year or so?!... I gained the weight I put on when I was pregnant. My metabolism got stagnant and there I am gaining more pounds and pounds that didn't bother me until to the point that I said to myself, "hey, i can't wear my after birth clothes and pants! why is that?" and when I look at the reflection, "hmmm... i think there's something wrong, why do i look fatter than before?" little did I  notice, "Oh yeah it was the double chin? and it's starting to triple? oh my...." as I gasped. That's the time I started to become serious about my health and appearance as well. I started to research about my sudden weight gain, there I realized that I'm not exercising enough, and that I eat poor diet meals, and maybe had a vitamin deficiency because of irregular intake of vitamins and minerals. I am that time losing my hope and got deppressed even more.

After a year of enduring the depression and lots of criticism and insult. Last August, Me and my husband realized something very important, and that is "We better take an action, before it's to late". Since that day, we started the 7 day 1,800 calorie diet. After that week, we started the low calorie, high fiber moderate protein diet together with daily vitamins intake. I also started walking few round in the stairs every morning. After I got bored walking in the stairs, I started jumping ropes for 30mins everyday. Taking supplements is very effective as well.

Yesterday, we were at the depatment store and I saw a weighing scale, and stepped into it. I was surprised of what I saw, I weight 65 kilos, so instantly I converted into pounds, and the result, around 143 pounds. I was so amazed, I knew for a certain that last July I was in a  hundred and 70 pounds. I must really lost a lot of weight. 26 pounds all-in-all for just 1 month and 3 weeks to be exact. Oh my, I'm so excited to get back to my old self.

These are the lessons I learned:
1.) Quit while you're ahead. Quit the poor diet that you're into, Don't let your body suffer from illness that could have been avoid.

2.) Action speaks louder than words. Just do it. Eat healthy, be active, take supplements if you have to.

3.) And lastly have fun and enjoy the changes, do it for yourself and for others.

For more questions and detailed info, of how i did it, just write it down in the comment/response box, and i will get to it as soon as i read it. ^_^ TakeCare!

unexpected people

Today is my natal day, well as for our time here, i am now one year older, but as for other places it maybe a few more ours before my birthday, so it is still my extended birthday after these evening and before the 12 o'clock stikes. It's funny though that none of my said ''friends" actually remembers it, of course i expected greetings and wishes, but the odds thing is the people i saw in the church once in a while and whom i don't even know would actually remembered my birthday. Thank you Lord for those who greeted. God bless still those who forgot.

Another year older, another challenges to face, new adventures in store , more wisdom I hope to come.

espresso art

"from beans to cup"

my kitchen cafe

As the usual life of a minister's family, we circulate around the district where ever my clergy husband will be assign, as of now, we're in a huge church, we reside in the upper floor of the church building. And as far as today we enjoy living it here, one of the thing that I been enjoying is my new kitchen cafe. The kitchen is a little bit small, but I've been able to pull out a tiny space for our fold-able cafe table type and a tiny cushioned chair with some few functional deco around the kitchen, and of course the espresso maker is not forgotten.

Work With Your Brain

Why is studying or reading so tiring? I what you're thinking, yeah, your right because the brain is working to process the information that has entered and finding it's way to let it remain for as long as possible. But one of the reason is when you try to understand the material instead of just memorizing it. It takes time to understand and find the relationship of one thing to another, it is that hard.

I got to recall again and again the things I learned in my college years even up to now, the reason, i have to insert it in my long term memory to be successful professional that I'm currently still preparing for.
What do you mean successful? What I'm telling is to effectively perform what you and I'm trained for (without holding a textbook when someone ask for our knowledge about the subject, and without trying to ignore the question by saying, "uh-mm, pardon me?").  To the very least, We should know the basic things.

But the question is, How to be successful? I as said  earlier, recall the learned information. In addition, understand more, but study less. How do you do it? study in a limited time, take a break when the brain isn't working anymore or when your getting bored. Play a game instead or do something else or better yet, rest or sleep. You'll know it when you're ready again. Frequent studying in a short time is more effective than studying for hours. The brain can only hold few raw, unstructured information for a short period of time. So in conclusion, know more about your brain, and study with your brain.

Want a perfect cup of coffee in the morning?

Want a perfect cup of coffee in the morning? here's how.

1. Better to have coffee beans in advance (store in cool, dry place, airtight)

2. Grinds it freshly, according to how you want to brew your coffee whether in coffee maker, espresso  maker, or coffee press. If grinder is not an option, just brew the whole beans in a pot. (reminder: never boil it!)

3. Brew the coffee grounds.

4. Pour the hot coffee or espresso in a glass or cup, add some hot steamed frothed milk. (heat the milk but do not scald!)

5. Add some sugar, if desired.

6. Last, top on a sprinkle of cinnamon, or spice or chocolate shavings or some flavorings to add more taste.

coffee and tea cups

And so, another blogspot account has been made, this time I will make sure that I write to it (wish me luck!) I have a web blog accounts that has been abandoned, for the reason that I thought that I can't write well, even though I have bunch of thoughts in my head, I just don't know how to put it in words. My blogs may not be perfect, but I'll try to the best of my ability to be sensible (hopefully). I am here now again, ready to start to share a lot of things that I hope could help or be beneficial to those who reads this site. So here it starts, by the way I love coffee, really loves coffee, so anyone who happens to read this, realizing we have the same interest, you are very much welcome, I can share what I learn and we can exchange wisdom about our beloved coffee!

The picture above is one of the coffee I made, it's a cafe mocha with not-so-perfect coffee art on top. Sipping a cup of coffee is a ritual in the afternoon that should not be missed, the only time i can't have one is when i run out of beans or sometimes milk or sugar, and of course when I'm out doing some important stuff. Later on, I'll be posting more coffee arts that i made in the previous, so be sure to visit this blog next time. Thanks for your time!  Oh by the way, just last month, to my amusement of the lovely taste of milk tea, I recently added it to my favorite list next to coffee and the third one, yogurt. hehe!
